VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Take a proactive approach to impacting the lives of youth in our community. Let’s Build Construction Camp has many different types of volunteer opportunities to accommodate your level of interest.

Whether you can dedicate a few hours, a few days, a few months, or longer we welcome you to make a positive contribution with us.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Due to the nature of our work, we require volunteers that work directly with children to provide background clearances.

Planning Committee- Do you like planning, organizing, and behind-the-scenes work? Planning Committee members work together to develop curriculum for in-person and virtual camps, community outreach/mentoring, operational logistics, and marketing plans for each camp. 

Volunteer Level of Commitment: Committee meets every month from January through approx. September. Participation at each meeting is preferred, but not required. Meetings last 1-1.5 hours, and committee work in between meetings ranges between 0-5 hours per month.

In-Person Camp Opportunities:

  • Trade Instructors- Share your experience by teaching camp participants a construction trade (e.g. rough/finish carpentry, concrete, electrical, HVAC, masonry, painting, plumbing, roofing, tile, etc.), explain career path and opportunities, etc.

 

  • Architecture Instructors- Share your experience by teaching camp participants design, basic principles of architecture, basics principles of interior design, explain career path and opportunities, etc.

 

  • Engineering Instructors- Share your experience by teaching camp participants basic principles of construction-related engineering (e.g. civil, environmental, MEP (mechanical, electrical plumbing), and structural), problem solving, explain career path and opportunities, etc.

 

  • Construction Helpers- Support camp instructors and campers with preparing materials, monitor campers to support and instruct when necessary, ensure campers are performing tasks correctly and safely, keep construction area clean and supplied with necessary tools/equipment for the day.

 

  • Camp Helpers- Support camp leaders and campers by ensuring all food and drink needs are met throughout the day, serve as fieldtrip chaperone, keep non-construction area clean and supplied with necessary supplies for the day, provide encouragement and uplifting verbal support to campers.

 

  • Safety Coordinators- Oversee all safety operations during camp to ensure a safe space for campers/volunteers, and educate campers on tool safety and PPE.

 

Volunteer Level of Commitment: Ranges between 2-8 hours during the in-person camp for instructors. Safety Coordinator hours range between 4-8 hours each day of camp. Overall Helper hours range between 4-8 hours each day of camp. Volunteers can dedicate just one day at camp or up to five full days based on your availability.

 

Virtual Camp Opportunities:

Help Let’s Build Construction develop educational content to share with youth throughout the world: Video or digital educational content needed in the following areas:

  • Architectural Content

  • Engineering Content

  • Construction Content

  • Sustainability Content

  • Technology Content

  • Tool Education Content

Volunteer Level of Commitment: One-time content or year-round content welcome.

 

Community Outreach Opportunities:

  • Mentor- Inspire, educate, and guide camp participants through your industry experience about careers in architecture, engineering, construction, or building product manufacturing.

      Volunteer Level of Commitment: Ranges between 0-10 hours per month.

 

  • School Outreach Representative- Work with area elementary, middle school, and high school students and teachers to inspire and educate about careers in architecture, engineering, construction, or building product manufacturing.

      Volunteer Level of Commitment: Ranges between 0-10 hours per month.
