DAY 1: Monday, August 10

  • To kick off the Let’s Build Construction Camp for Girls Virtual Camp we are issuing a challenge to all the Boss Girls out there.  We want to see all that you are capable of by using this week to show us your creations.  The “Made By Me” Let’s Build Video Challenge is your chance to shine.  It’s super easy, build something out of wood, pipes, wires, metal, toy building blocks, or design a house on your computer... just use your imagination!  Build it this week or show us something you have already built.  Post your video on our Facebook (@LetsBuildConstructionCampLV), Instagram (@letsbuildlv), or TikTok (@letsbuildcamp) pages this week!

  • Let's learn all about the Let's Build Construction Camp for Girls. We are a free camp for girls ages 14-18 to attend all aspects of the construction industry. Take a look back at our 2018 camp!

First, we recommend going to your local Career Technical School during high school to learn a trade, and then after high school you can enter into an apprenticeship program which is like college for the trades. Learn more about opportunities to learn hands-on construction by watching this video about craft training.

  • Our second virtual fieldtrip is with Victaulic, a manufacturer that produces mechanical pipe joining, flow control and fire protection systems and is the inventor of the grooved pipe coupling. They also provide engineering services for contractors, distributors, site owners, and property managers to best utilize their products. Our 2018 campers visited Victaulic for a tour and got to have an interactive virtual engineering experience.

  • Meet Alicia Cressman who is an Architecture Project Manager with BDA Architects. Experience what her job is like at an architecture firm! Alicia is also one of our dedicated Planning Committee members and has been with us since the very beginning in 2017. We absolutely love having her a part of the Let's Build team!

Thanks for joining us for Day 2 of the Let's Build Construction Camp for Girls Virtual Camp! Here is your daily message of empowerment: "Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember you have the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world."- Harriet Tubman. So what is YOUR dream? You have it inside of you to achieve your dreams. Never forget that! Use your inner strength and determination to accomplish what you want. All of this can take time, so be patient with yourself if it does not happen right away. The journey you go on to achieve your dreams is just as important as the moment you achieve them! Learn from those experiences and you will become stronger because of them.
